Step Into the MEGA Brain: American Society of Black Neurosurgeons Brings Giant Brain Exhibit to Fondren Middle School
Houston, TX — Get ready to dive into the world of neuroscience like never before! On Monday, October 1, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Fondren Middle School will host an extraordinary educational experience with the arrival of the MEGA Brain. This colossal, walk-through exhibit, measures 18 feet long, 12 feet tall, and 15 feet wide, and promises to captivate and educate students about the brain’s intricate wonders.
“The Mega Brain is being used to ignite the student’s interest regarding neurosurgery and neuroscience. As Marian Wright Edelman said, “You can’t be what you don’t see,” said ABNS (American Board of Neurological Surgery) board-certified neurosurgeon Dr. Sonia Eden.
Presented by the American Society of Black Neurosurgeons (ASBN), the MEGA Brain exhibit will take students on a journey through the central nervous system, showcasing all things neuroscience, including causes, effects, and treatments related to brain trauma and stroke. The exhibit aims to spark interest in neurosurgery among young minds and will feature interactive elements and engaging presentations by esteemed Black neurosurgeons. Students will also have the chance to ask questions directly to these doctors.
This larger-than-life model isn’t just about size—it makes learning unforgettable, and helps demonstrate that careers in neuroscience are attainable. Visitors will step inside the MEGA Brain and explore its details up close, gaining a deeper understanding of the brain’s role in health and disease. This one-of-a-kind exhibit is both fun and educational, and it makes complex scientific concepts accessible and exciting for all ages.
